This marks the start of my final submission.
I had a great time and learned quite a bit, i know now that the next piece that i make will come out even better than this one because of all the time i spent with the halberd. Though it is not necesseraly what i had first envisioned, it still turned out better than i expected and it's my best work to this date. Tarp, toolbox and concrete are from Quixel

I like the direction its going, some parts are still flat, ill finish my textures (which ive been postponing out of laziness) and work on my lighting, after that maybe some wires batteries and toolbox around the weapon and then post processing.

Getting and applying feedback. Once again still the bottom generator to texture and some other details to tweak, like the rust on the kitchen knife and on the keys. After that ill get some final feedback and move on to post.

Texture Updates

Still haven't applied all the feedback that i got, i've been trying to get decent looking textures on each singular part of the model so i can then focus in depth in each part. Still some weird stretching in some parts of the texture, but this is how its looking inside marmoset, overall i'm happy with the direction its going and im gonna start to pose the weapon and focus on the lighting soon.

Final Steps

With less than two weeks left in the challenge, i'm trying to progress as fast as i can without losing quality and care put into the asset. A bit behind schedule as my last post mentioned. I decided to create two different texture sets for the Halberd, aiming for a better quality in the close ups and beauty shots, while that may lose some points "optimization" wise and wouldn't necessarily be the correct decision for an in-game prop (depending on the game i guess), i felt the need to try and create the best textures that i can output.

I spent more time than i wish i did on optimizing the asset and UVs, so now i have only around 12 days to texture. So far i have laid in some basic texturing in some parts and less basic texturing in others. The challenge for this will be to make every different part of the asset come together and work well as a whole.

Since there's not that many days left in the challenge. i'll try to post updates more frequently so that the evolution of each part and the halberd as whole is visible. I'm curious to see how it's gonna look and happy with what i have achieved so far.

Late Sculpts

A couple days behind my intended schedule due to some schoolwork, but we keep moving. Done with sculpting and will now work on the low poly and unwrap.

Big changes and progress

After a week of working on the modeling process, lots of progress was made and i managed to evolve from the initial concept to a somewhat more interesting shape. With the modeling process almost done (hopefully still this week), i can start working on sculpting details and imperfections in ZBrush

I've decided to also plan more throughly the amount of time and when i spend said time on this project. With school work its hard to keep it all balanced, so every post will have a small list with my expected next steps for the current week.

This week (16-22/03)

• Finish modeling process
• Start and finish sculpting process

Next week (23-29/03)

• Low poly model finished and optimized
• UV unwrap model
• Start the texturing process

Reference board still not finished, but going on a direction that i'm happy with, quickly iterating on different concepts has brought new ideas to the table.

After reading the theme of this challenge i got immediately inspired by Dead Island, where many weapons are makeshift and also by Bloodborne, with its trick weapons. My idea is to create a makeshift halberd that can be used both as a one or two-handed weapon. With a sturdy battery and some copper wire attached to it, it can also electrify enemies that get hit by it.
