little update on the blockout
little update on the blockout
0: battery (or batteries) goes/go into power supply board
1: power supply board goes into a simple diy control board
2: bike brake goes into a pneumatic pressure sensor that sends out electric signal whenever it detects a difference in pressure
3: Catalytic converter from a land rover used as water reservoir
4: lourdes holy water bottle
5: one way flow valve keeps regular water from pushing back into the lourdes bottle (holy water is a limited resource so we should be carefull about accidental loss)
6: water pump takes water from container number 3
7: an electric signal from the pneumatic pressure sensor is received into a solenoid valve. This way high pressure water is only released whenever the bike brake is pressed.
8: shower head water mixer takes in the high pressure water from both the pump and the lourdes bottle
9: karcher head with adjustable spray pattern (you can use thin beam spray option to snipe the ghosts, and use the wide mist option for holy water shotgun action if they swarm you up close)
a sidenote:
(i know a bike break isn't pneumatic in itself, it works with a wire inside a plastic casing. But if you cut out the metal inner wire halfway through the plastic part of the cable, the leftover part of the inner metal wire should still displace air within the plastic tubing that is now empty, turning the bike break mechanism into a pneumatic one, I do realize this gets rid of the usual pressure you would have on the brake handle , so there needs to be a spring or elastic something keeping tension from now on)
A small update on the deadline:
I'm taking a last minute vacation in 2 weeks to visit my girlfriends family in Italy.
I've received multiple dates for deadlines from uni (14th, 20th and 23rd of april, super annoying that they plan my midterms so close together, unhappy about that but whatever)
Considering all this i'm not sure if i'm making the deadline, i'll make a decision before the end of the month.
I'm not participating for prizes, i'm participating for fun and most of all to produce a portfolio work.
If not making the deadline allows me to output a quality that is usefull to my portfolio then i'm getting rid of the deadline.
But hey, i'll see how fast i work.
The main outlines for the design and workings of my gun were established last week. I had some clear ideas in mind but a lot of the parts of it still were concepts with no actual execution in mind.
The past week i spent a lot of time thinking and brainstorming and i've made some decisions.
I've put together a plan in my head for the electronic / hydraulic and pneumatic parts of my gun and will upload those later today.
The blockout has started! i think i'm about 50% done with blocking, there's a bunch of stuff that is missing or that i'm not fully convinced of yet, but i think the silhouette is slowly becoming interesting.
At some point i will do a full explanation of my idea and the workings of the gun, but i think it's more fun and logical to keep that for when the blockout is final.
The whole refboard, including initial research on similar examples, types of connections i like and electric props i got from my own garage. Before 3d i used to mostly spend my time doing electronics projects so i got a bunch of fun stull to pull from.
Middle part is the main refboard, witch all the parts i have decided on using in the end, i might leave some out and some extra stuff might come in during blocking but at least half of the stuff in here should end up in the prop.
I am participating for fun 🙂
Exited to see familiar faces and equally exited to see new ones!
