The samovar is a tea brewer popular in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Although originating roughly 3000 years ago albeit in primitive forms, it became a staple during the late 18th and 19th century Russia. I've decided to work on a semi-painted one which was the style going into the 20th century. My decision to go with a half painted version was to be able to work on both the metal discoloration/patina and the the painted/engraved texture itself as I think it could create a beautiful contrast.
