I must admit, I’ve truly enjoyed taking part in this challenge. Every time I embark on a new project, I end up learning something new... and this was no exception. I’m happy with the final result, despite the long road still ahead. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did creating it. Hopefully, our paths will cross again.

Ironveil Sanctuary - Trailer 4K

Throughout my entire career, I’ve been dedicated to lighting all kinds of stages. And I’ve come to realize something: shadows carry more weight than light. Try to look for the shadows. The absence of light often communicates more than a fully visible object. Some people might disagree, but keep it in mind - you might be surprised. Think of a theater: on stage, there’s more darkness than light, and yet everything feels complete and in harmony. Shadows and the absence of light are powerful allies when it comes to illuminating a scene.

I consider it important to use different color temperatures, even among fixtures of the same type. In reality, light fixtures have a lifespan, and depending on their use, their intensity and color shift over time. I like to play with these characteristics when lighting a scene. Generally, when I lower a light’s intensity, I also reduce its color temperature. This doesn’t necessarily happen in real life, but the effect I achieve suggests that the light has aged... that it has lost some of its original quality through time and use.

Moreover, in environments with artificial lighting, especially in science fiction settings, where color temperatures tend to be relatively high, this contrast makes irregularities stand out and adds character to the scene.

Actually working in the final video and adding some detail assets. Also composing the soundtrack for the video animation and creating some level sequences for adding movement, live lighting and dynamism to the movie.

Today I managed to block out the exterior area in geometry. It was the part I was most concerned about. Natural environments have always been the most challenging for me. For now, I’m satisfied with the result. I’ll focus on refining the visible areas to capture strong images and a video. For the video, I’ll probably create Blueprints and animations to add more dynamism to the final presentation.

When designing an environment at a larger scale, I always begin with the core idea, making it my main priority. From there, secondary elements are usually positioned more easily, almost naturally. This conceptual map illustrates the architectural layout and the scale of the scene in a purely visual manner.

I wanted to play with verticality. For that reason, I decided that in my scene we will descend very deep using an elevator built from modular elements. Once in the depths, an abyss will open up, allowing us to continue descending even further. This last detail is meant to create an even more extreme sense of depth.

We will descend six floors.

The access to the lower floor appears abandoned and lonely.

The abyss will create a feeling of not having reached the very bottom yet.

The towering pillars create a sense of claustrophobia, even within such a vast environment.

In Ironveil Sanctuary, the centerpiece of the scene is the ruins that are revealed at the end of the path. From there, the scene expands. The bunker, or research facility, is set up to study these ruins. My intention is to compare the scene to a concept similar to that of a Roman theater, placing the lights in a theatrical manner.

I wanted to start with one of the most important areas. My intention is to create a certain degree of visual chaos, but based on a series of properly placed pathways thanks to the modular system. I’d also like to share some references and the raw results I’ve been working on.

Beyond the rusted corridors and hollow bunkers lies the Ironveil Sanctuary... a place where steel and stone intertwine. Here, forgotten rituals echo through fractured machinery, and nature claws its way back into the wounds of industry. A shrine once hidden, now revealed, suspended between reverence and ruin.
