Started to put meshes together. I'll work on 2-3 beautiful corners to test shapes and lighting.
I've color corrected all the scans materials to be in the same values so it feels more natural to kitbash all the landscape structures. For now most of the colours will come from light and skybox, It'll change when I have the map in more refined state.
the most difficult part now is to make clear and nice rock structure, Noise control is something I will pay a lot of attention to.
When I'll finish with terrain I will project city layout on it and start to work on ruins. Sci-fi facility will be the last layer of the story

Hey, I've been working on refining the theme, gathering refs and ideas and some prep work with assets
First of all, I decided to go with Caravaggio as my main atmsophere, color and lighting reference
and added few romanticism artworks as well that fit the mood
The ruins assets have some Old Europe vibes, so I picked old city layout to feel the scale better and have some streets/architecture references. The city of choise is Bologna. It has absolutely amazing layout and nice variation of wide and narrow streets.
Greetings, small update from my side
After checking all the assets I think I will go with combination of ruined city and sci fi facility on top of it. Should be able to make nice gradient from completely destroyed low ruins to higher ones with pipes and modern structures around it.

The story behind this level will be something trivial - apocalyptic event destroyed the city, formed some gravitational anomalies and killed everything. The corporation found something really valuable here and created facility to explore it and mine this resource.

I am happy to join the challenge! As a starting point I plan to check on all the available assets, play with it for some time and come up with something interesting. My initial idea is to push for outlandish post apocalyptic scenery with bunch of story layers. We'll see how it turns out
