Back with some updates!
I started doing some iterations, trying to combine two teapots to create an interesting silhouette. The two teapots I’m referring to are the main reference and the shape silhouette (ref2) from the reference board.
-
Ref2 had a different type of spout, not one with a Makara's head. The Makara, a creature associated with water, symbolizes life-giving forces, fertility, and abundance. Its use as the spout of a teapot is deeply rooted in mythological, cultural, and practical considerations. It represents protection, prosperity, and artistic beauty, making it a meaningful and functional design choice in traditional teapots. So, I wanted to stick with that!
-
I added the chains from the main reference to break up the silhouette a bit.
-
The handle-dragon is called Druk, the "Thunder Dragon" (it draws from both Tibetan and Bhutanese mythological traditions. The Druk symbol also appears on the flag of Bhutan). The dragon used as a handle on ceremonial teapots symbolizes power, protection, and good fortune, making it ideal for objects used in important rituals and daily life. I made it as thick as the main reference.
The final:
Bashed it together:
I’m going to start with the blockout now!
Thanks for reading!
