Back in Time: Antique Props Challenge will have you step into the golden age of design history and recreate an antique object into a stunning 3D game asset. Push your skills, impress our industry judges, and create a portfolio-worthy piece while competing for prizes that support your career.
Your objective is to model, texture, and render a game-ready antique asset. The asset must be based on a real antique dating from the 1800s to the mid-1920s. Choose any antique from the period; from Victorian furniture, an automobile, a weapon, or an everyday object, and faithfully capture its craftsmanship and character.
Sierra Division Challenges give artists the opportunity to win prizes that support their growth and careers in the game industry. Participants will compete for hands-on training through Sierra Division Academy, interview coaching from PlayHire, an Intuos tablet from Wacom, plus valuable software licenses and subscriptions from ArtStation, Adobe Substance, Dash, FrameRef, Marmoset, and RizomUV.
Head over to the Challenge Prizes tab to explore the full prize pool.
First place winner will win a 1:1 Environment Art mentorship with Senior Environment Artist, Jeryce Dianingana. For 8-weeks, Jeryce will guide you as you create a prop or environment using AAA production workflows and techniques.
2nd Place winners will win an in-depth 8-week game art texturing masterclass with Senior 3D artist Robin Mariančík. Robin will take you through the complete 3D texturing pipeline used in AAA game production. You’ll learn how to organize your workflow, create optimized textures, and understand how each step connects to professional studio standards.
In addition, 1st, 2nd place and 3rd place winners will receive interview coaching sessions with a recruiter, subscriptions and licenses from our sponsors, and the coolest swag from Sierra Divison.
The Challenge will be reviewed by an incredible panel of 15 expert judges from the Game Industry. They include Sierra Division artists, mentors from Sierra Division Academy, and industry pros.
With years of experience across game art, design, and education, our judges will be on the lookout for standout antique props that excel in modeling, texturing, and presentation.
Create your best work. These are the pros you’ll want to impress.
